Mattress Firm Announces Senior Management Leadership Transition - Gary Fazio Named Chairman, Steve Stagner to President and CEO

Mattress Firm, Inc., one of the nation’s leading specialty mattress retailers, today announced changes to the company’s senior management team as part of the succession plan that was put into place in 2007. Steve Stagner has been promoted to President and Chief Executive Officer and Gary Fazio has been elevated to Chairman of the Board of Directors. Both changes were effective February 3, 2010, the beginning of the company’s new fiscal year. With these changes, Stagner will assume the direct leadership of all day-to-day operations of Mattress Firm, while Fazio will focus on strategic growth opportunities for the company.

Mattress Firm to Sponsor Victorian Bed Race at Dickens on the Strand

Mattress Firm is the official sponsor of the Victorian Bed Race at this year’s 36th annual Dickens on the Strand. Dickens on the Strand is a family festival that takes place in Galveston, TX the first weekend of December. This year’s festival will be held Saturday, Dec 5th and Sunday, Dec 6th. The festivities will begin at 10am on both days and end at 7pm Saturday and 6pm Sunday.

Mattress Firm's Turnkey Franchising Strategy Accelerates National Growth Plans

Mattress Firm, Inc., one of the nation’s leading specialty mattress retailers, today announced it has signed its first multi-unit franchise development agreement in the Upper Midwest as part of an effort to accelerate the company’s extensive turnkey franchise program that is unparalleled in the bedding industry. Chuck Dawson, a former senior executive at Sealy, has signed a deal to develop the Milwaukee and Madison, Wis. markets with plans to open multiple stores in 2010, with the first store scheduled to open in January. This agreement will mark Mattress Firm’s entry into the state of Wisconsin, the 22nd state where the company has locations.

Mattress Firm & Protect-A-Bed team up to fight against Pancreatic Cancer

Mattress Firm and Protect-A-Bed, today announced their plans to launch a campaign to raise money for the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network. During the month of November, Mattress Firm and Protect-A-Bed will donate a portion of the proceeds for each mattress protector (made by Protect-A-Bed) that is bought from a Mattress Firm store to the foundation. The two companies have chosen to run this program throughout the month of November to correspond with the national pancreatic cancer awareness month.

Mattress Firm Donates Blankets to Patriot House

Mattress Firm, one of the nation’s leading specialty mattress retailers, announced that its Dallas Central store locations in Dallas, Texas donated thirty-two throw blankets to Forth Worth’s Patriot House on June 12, 2009.
Recently, all Mattress Firm stores sold their oversized throws to customers for $9.99 (A value price of $39.99). For each throw sold, they matched that purchase with one oversized throw blanket donation to local charities in need.
